hi from your teacher & host
Hello, i’m Lizzie. I am your yoga teacher and host, here to look after you during the retreat.
I have been hosting yoga retreats for the last 3 years. My approach is to focus on delivering the retreat elements to a high standard. I will always choose quality over quantity and opt for an intimate gathering with a focus on meaningful interactions.
I also have a background in event production working for brands such as Spotify, Adidas and Samsung, therefore producing events comes very naturally to me. These yoga ones are a lot nicer, I must admit - it’s a dream to organise events that are aligned with my values.
I will take care of all schedule logistics during the retreat, but always give you space should there be other activities you wish to explore in addition.

Having trained 200hrs in Ashtanga Vinyasa flow initially, I then explored Rocket yoga by Larry Schultz as a natural evolution. Since then I have studied Yin Yoga with Bernie Clarke, The Oxygen Advantage® breath work method with Patrick McKeown and I am currently studying to gain an 815hr Yoga Therapy diploma with Evi Dimitriadou. My teaching approach is eclectic and I like to weave lots of different elements into class making it refreshing and accessible for all.

ACCOMODATION
Our home for the retreat is a beautiful 16th century historic French royal building. It has presided over a small hill since at least the early 16th Century when King Francoise 1st built a royal hunting here. Subsequently, the buildings were used as a cannon foundry before becoming a Cognac Estate after the French Revolution. Today the buildings are centred on a beautiful courtyard with seven cottages in total. The rooms are split between all cottages providing lots of space during your stay, and consist of triple rooms, twin rooms and private king-size doubles. Cottages share bathrooms. The venue is owned and run by a family, so lots of love has gone into the making of this renovated space.
food
Pleased to introduce you to Ivi, your private chef during the retreat!
Focussing on cooking for yoga retreats is where she finds her biggest joy and purpose, she tells me preparing food for others is her meditation and love. She mainly cook vegetarian and vegan food focusing on making the dishes healthy, nourishing, easy to digest and colourful.
On our yoga retreat, Ivi will cook with a different theme each day (Eg. Mediterranean, Japanese, Indian, Italian, Thai etc), so you will have a wide variety of tasty dishes each day. She is also studying ayurvedic food, which will be weaved more into her cooking.
Ivi lives in Switzerland but spends her winters in Thailand and India getting inspired for the retreat season ahead.
We will dine either alfresco in the courtyard, on the lawn or in the Banqueting Barn with its myriad of sparkling fairy lights. Food will be prepared with fresh local produce and will be vegetarian/vegan. If you have specific dietary requirements, that is no problem, we can arrange a suitable menu to suit you.
The food will always be a highlight of the experience with an abundance of colours, flavours and creativity served at every meal. Sitting down together allows us to connect, eat mindfully, talk about our experiences, and have a giggle.

FAQs
WHAT IS THE EXPERIENCE OF YOGA REQUIRED?
I welcome all levels of yoga to the retreat. This will be an open-level event without a specific style in focus. There will be many opportunities to practice restorative practices as well as energising ones. You are encouraged to make postures suit you by modifying or adding variations. We will explore different styles of meditation in each practice.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You will need to bring a yoga mat as the venue does not supply them. If you sign up to the yoga retreat, I will offer you a free yoga mat from my sister company Planted Yoga Rugs. All other equipment will be provided. Other than that, you should bring comfortable clothes to practice yoga in, swimwear, suncream, and summer clothes to cycle around in!
I HAVE DIETARY REQUIREMENTS, WHAT SHALL I DO?
Please let me know in advance so we can arrange a separate menu for you, no problem at all.
HOW MUCH FREE TIME WILL I HAVE?
To help you relax and let go of decision-making, there will be a planned schedule for each day (example above), and I will remind you as we go through the retreat. There will always be a morning, or an afternoon with a couple of hours where you can choose how to spend it. Walking? Swimming? Napping? Reading? Site seeing? All planned activities are optional. If you wish to have a lay-in and miss yoga, that is okay with me! This is your retreat so you can decide how to structure it.
when does the early bird end?
7th February. After this date, you should expect a 10% increase in price.
what if i have to cancel?
When securing your place, you will need to pay a deposit. Unfortunately, this deposit will be non-refundable unless I can fill your space with someone else. Full payment will be required 6 weeks before the event. (17th April 2024)
